Meet the Talos team

Meet the team.

We are a diverse team consisting of young, committed European university students from Austria, France, Germany, Hungary, Lithuania and Poland studying at University College London and King’s College London. We have come together to build Talos in order to further a noble cause: to help Europeans become more informed, interconnected and engaged citizens. Meet the Talos Team members!

Dénes
President
Dénes is a Hungarian BA History, Politics and Economics student at UCL’s School of Slavonic and East European Studies. Previously, he studied BA International Relations at the Corvinus University of Budapest. As a staunch Europeanist from an early age, he was a co-founder of the International Circle of Hungary (Nemzetközi Kör), a high school student-led organisation devoted to European causes. Prior to Talos, Dénes gained head-on experience in the civil service of our European Union, as he served as a Coordination Officer in the Hungarian State-Secretariat for European Union Affairs. In his spare time, Dénes loves engaging with the unique civilisation of our European Union through learning our unique languages, sampling delectable cuisines and travelling throughout our beautiful continent.
Alix
Vice President & Head of Product Development
Alix is French and studies BSc Philosophy, Politics and Economics with Data Science at UCL. In the past, she has interned at the Communication Department of the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs as well as at the Deputy Ministry in charge of Digital Affairs. In addition, she has completed the Pre-Collegiate Summer Programme at Stanford University "Computer simulation and interactive media" where she learnt about computer programming, user experience, user interface design, and data structure. She is now a strategy consulting intern at Deloitte and works in the Customer and Digital team in Deloitte’s Digital and Blockchain Lab (Dublin). She is interested in technology, public policy, and data analysis and enjoys skiing, fencing and travelling to remote locations.
Morta
Head of Branding and PR
Morta is Lithuanian and reads BA Politics and East European Studies at UCL’s School of Slavonic and East European Studies. She has recently completed an Information and Communications internship at the European Information Office of the Lithuanian Parliament where she primarily analysed media reports on European affairs, provided information on the EU and its institutions as well as assisted in organising events and advertising for the Office. She also has extensive experience as a corporate receptionist and administrator where she developed good organisational and communication skills. She was involved in UCL’s Baltic Society work where she co-organised various cultural and social events. In her spare time she enjoys culinary experiments, visual arts and film studies.
Max
Head of Business Development
Max is Austrian and studies BSc Philosophy, Politics and Economics with a focus on politics and economics at UCL. He has taken part in and won multiple start-up competitions organised by the BCG and the European Union, and was awarded the title of 'Austrian Business Champion 2013/2014. In 2017, he completed the Summer Business Scholars Programme at the Booth School of Business, University of Chicago, where he received intensive training in the fields of finance, accounting, negotiations, marketing and innovation. He is passionate about music and art. He worked as a singing instructor, plays in a band, published about art history, and started his own museum. Of the time left he spends as much as possible traveling to new places and learning about new cultures.
Pauline
Head of Communications
Pauline is German and French and reads BA Linguistics at UCL, also with a module in European Politics, Law, History and Philosophy. She was born in Germany but spent most of her life in France, where, after her baccalaureate in the Literature stream, she did a year of Higher School Preparatory Class before heading to Spain to learn Spanish. Prior to working for Talos, she has volunteered as an English tutor in her high-school and did a shadowing internship at a Press Agency. Pauline is fond of learning new languages: she speaks French, English, German, Spanish and is now learning Italian. Her hobbies include skiing, sailing, horse-riding, and playing video games.
Sebastian
Head of Legal Affairs
Sebastian is a German student at UCL, where he is studying law. Having, received a CBYX scholarship from the German Parliament he has worked to further the friendship between Germany and the U.S.A. Being passionate about the intersection of law and politics, he was responsible for the law section of EUREKA magazine. By reason of his academic achievement and engagement with society, he was admitted into the German Academic Scholarship Foundation, which enables him to deepen his knowledge on a wide range of contemporary challenges. In the past, he has participated with a team at the UCL Bright Ideas Challenge, where he learned about the basic management of start-ups. Since he is of German-Cypriot descent, he enjoys learning languages, and currently speaks German, Greek and English fluently while his French is at an advanced level. In his spare time, he enjoys lifting weights, cooking and reading about philosophy and history.
Emmanuel
Head of Marketing
Emmanuel is a French student at King’s College London, where he is studying a BSc Business & Management. He was born in the United Kingdom and spent some time in France, Switzerland and Singapore. He completed two summer programs with the Oxford Royale Academy and the discover your talent program at Bocconi University. He has been involved in the school play from 2014-2017 during which he participated in the creation of two plays and the adaptation of another one. The first one being "Camille Claudel, la passion à l'oeuvre"; the second one was an adaptation of "Flight over a Cuckoos Nest" and the final one is entitled "N.O.R.I.A.". In 2016, he helped to organise a charity concert with a group of students, their objective was to raise money for the organisation called Sail Vega and then participated in a fundraising and a humanitarian voyage helping Krousar Thmey, a charity based in Cambodia. Being an amateur historian, he spends most of his free time learning about it and also really enjoys theatre and musicals.
Toby Payne
Head of Creative Content
Toby is British and studies BA History with Arabic at UCL. He was born in the UK but lived in the Middle East for half of his life. He is passionate about diplomacy, modern technological solutions and fitness. His proudest moment was addressing a crowd of 2,500 on how the efforts for peace and reconciliation in the Middle East today are not dissimilar to that of the Yugoslav wars, and how we must not let similar atrocities happen again. He has made his own website and helped in bringing the first youth-led art exhibition to the city he lived in. In his spare time, he enjoys Cross Country Running, yoga, and scrolling endlessly through political feeds on Twitter.
Bálint
Editor-in-Chief
Bálint is a German and Hungarian European Social and Political Studies student at UCL, specialising in International Relations, and Dutch culture and language. Bálint shows great interest in EU politics, by taking up several EU modules and devoting the majority of his free time on EU politics, through reading several online and printed newspapers and journals, and by continuously attending public lectures at European universities. Moreover, in the summer of 2017, he worked as an intern in the European Parliament in Brussels, where he attended the ITRE and REGI Committees and conferences. Prior to working for Talos, he was an organiser of a three-week long drama-role-play camp that, according to him, shaped his personality more than anything else. In his free time, besides reading politics, Bálint learns about finance, poster art, listens to Techno or writes “old-school” style letters for his beloved ones.
